Conditions of Entry & Tournament Regulations

Tournament Information

Tournament : E-WIS Championship 2026

Host Venue : Victoria Golf & Country Resort, Digana, Sri Lanka

Qualifier Round : 6 July 2026 (venue to be advised)

Championship Rounds : 7-9 July 2026

Format : Individual Gross Stroke Play; aggregate gross score over completed stipulated rounds

1. Championship Purpose

The Professional Golf Tour of Sri Lanka (PGTSL) has been established by the country's professional golfers with the primary objective of fostering the growth, development, and sustainability of professional golf in Sri Lanka.

The Tour aims to provide a structured and competitive platform for local professionals and aspiring golfers to improve their skills, compete regularly, and contribute towards raising the overall standard of the professional game in the country.

The E-WIS Championship 2026 shall be conducted in accordance with the current Rules of Golf as approved by The R&A Rules Limited, the Local Rules printed on the official scorecard, any additional Local Rules or Notices to Players displayed on the Official Tournament Notice Board, these Conditions of Entry and Tournament Regulations, and any further Tournament Regulations issued by the PGTSL Tournament Committee.

2. Eligibility

Entries are invited from the following categories of golfers in Sri Lanka:

Professional Players

·       Current Tour Professionals

·       Former Tour Professionals

·       Teaching Professionals

Amateur Players

·   Current Sri Lanka National Pool Players

·   Former Sri Lanka National Pool Players

·   Amateur golfers holding a Handicap Index not exceeding 9.0 at the closing date of entries

Lady Players

·   Lady professional and amateur golfers who satisfy the applicable eligibility criteria may enter the Championship.

·   Lady players shall play from the designated Ladies' tees, or such tees as determined by the Tournament Committee.

·   Lady players shall compete in the same Championship field and for the same prize positions and prize values, subject to their professional or amateur        status.

·   The Tournament Committee reserves the right to verify eligibility and to refuse, accept, or cancel any entry which does not satisfy the prescribed                criteria.

·   Acceptance of an entry shall not constitute final confirmation of eligibility.

3. Championship Field

The Championship field shall be restricted to a maximum of forty-five (45) players.

Direct Entry Category

Up to forty (40) places shall be allocated through direct entry and acceptance by the Tournament Committee.

Qualifying Category

A further five (5) places may be determined through the Official Qualifying Round where required.

·   Where the number of entries exceeds the available field size, a qualifying competition may be conducted to determine the allocation of qualifying               places.

·   The qualifying competition may be played at a golf course other than the Championship venue, at a venue selected and approved by the Tournament          Committee.

·   The format, date, venue, number of qualifying places available, and any tie-breaking procedures shall be announced by the Tournament Committee             and shall be final.

·   The top five players returning the lowest gross scores in the Official Qualifying Round shall qualify for the Championship, unless otherwise                        determined by the Tournament Committee.

·   Any players tied for the final qualifying position shall also be admitted to the Championship field, subject to the Committee's final decision on field            size and administration.

·   If the qualifying round is not required, the Tournament Committee may fill available places by direct acceptance.

·   All decisions relating to field composition shall be final.

4. Format of Competition

Qualifying Round

An official qualifying round may be conducted on 6 July 2026 to determine the final positions available in the Championship field in accordance with these Conditions of Entry.

Championship Format

The Championship shall be played as a gross stroke play competition over three stipulated rounds of 18 holes each, subject to the authority of the Tournament Committee to amend the number of stipulated rounds if circumstances so require.

·   The Championship shall comprise a maximum of 54 holes of stroke play.

·   All scoring shall be on a gross score basis only.

·   The Tournament Committee shall designate the tees for each category. Lady players shall play from the designated Ladies' tees, or such tees as                    determined by the Tournament Committee.

·   No cut shall be applied during the Championship.

·   The player returning the lowest aggregate gross score over the completed stipulated rounds shall be declared the PGTSL Champion.

Reduction or Cancellation of Stipulated Rounds

Should adverse weather, course conditions, or any other circumstance beyond the control of the Tournament Committee prevent the completion of all stipulated rounds, the Tournament Committee may suspend or postpone play, cancel or reduce stipulated rounds, or take any other action deemed necessary to determine a fair result.

In such circumstances, the Championship shall be decided based on the lowest aggregate gross score returned over the stipulated rounds completed, and the decision of the Tournament Committee shall be final.


5. Championship Scoring & Prize Eligibility

No cut shall be applied. All players commencing the Championship shall be entitled to compete over all three stipulated rounds, subject to compliance with these Conditions of Competition.

At the conclusion of the completed stipulated rounds:

·   The Championship title shall be awarded to the player with the lowest aggregate gross score.

·   The top fifteen (15) players returning the lowest aggregate gross scores and all ties shall qualify for prizes and awards.


6. Championship Prize Fund & Amateur Awards

·   The Championship Prize Fund shall apply only to the leading fifteen (15) finishing positions and ties, in accordance with the approved PGTSL Prize          Distribution Schedule.

·   Professional players finishing in those prize positions shall receive the applicable cash prize.

·   Amateur players finishing in those prize positions shall not receive cash and shall instead receive approved amateur prizes, gift vouchers, or                        merchandise equivalent to the cash value of their finishing position, in accordance with the Rules of Amateur Status.

·   For clarity, lady players shall compete for the same prize positions and prize values as all other players, subject to their professional or amateur status.

·   Players finishing outside the leading fifteen (15) prize positions and ties shall not receive any prize under the Championship Prize Fund.

7. Rules of Golf

The Championship shall be governed by:

·   The Rules of Golf approved by The R&A

·   The Official Guide to the Rules of Golf

·   PGTSL Tournament Regulations

·   PGTSL Pace of Play Policy

·   Championship Local Rules

·   Terms of Competition

The onus is upon every player to know and comply with all applicable Rules and Regulations.


8. Playoff Procedure

·   Provided the Championship has been completed over at least one stipulated round, a tie for first place shall be decided by a sudden-death playoff over       holes determined by the Tournament Committee, unless circumstances prevent such playoff, in which case the Tournament Committee shall determine       the method of deciding the Championship.

·   The playoff shall commence immediately following completion of play, unless otherwise determined by the Tournament Committee.

·   All other ties shall remain tied unless otherwise determined by the Tournament Committee.


Tie-Breaker Rule:

If a play-off is not possible, ties will be resolved by a scorecard countback of the final round in the following order:

·       Back 9 holes (10–18) Last 6 holes (13–18) Last 3 holes (16–18) Last hole (18) Front 9 holes (1–9), followed by front 6, front 3, and front 1.

·       If players remain tied after this countback, they will co-share the championship title and equally split the prize money. 

9. Caddies

·   Players may employ caddies during the Championship.

·   The conduct of a caddie shall be deemed to be the responsibility of the player.

·   The Tournament Committee reserves the right to impose restrictions relating to caddies and support personnel.

10. Transportation / Buggies

·   The use of motorised buggies or golf carts by players during all stipulated rounds of the Championship shall not be permitted.

·   Players shall walk at all times during competition rounds unless otherwise authorised by the Tournament Committee in exceptional circumstances.

·   Caddies may carry or transport player equipment by hand or using approved pull-trolleys only, where permitted by the Committee and the host venue.

·   Any breach of this condition may result in penalty or disqualification at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.

11. Pace of Play Policy

·       The Championship shall operate under a Pace of Play Policy. Players shall be required to maintain the position and timing standards established by the Tournament Committee.

·       Penalties may be imposed for undue delay, failure to keep pace, or repeated timing violations. Penalties may include warning, stroke penalties, and disqualification.

12. Player Code of Conduct

All participants shall maintain the highest standards of integrity, sportsmanship, and professional conduct.

Disciplinary action may be imposed for:

·   Abuse of golf course property

·   Damage to equipment or facilities

·   Unsportsmanlike conduct

·   Verbal abuse

·   Offensive behaviour

·   Refusal to comply with instructions issued by Tournament Officials

·   Actions detrimental to the reputation of the Championship, PGTSL, or the game of golf

The Tournament Committee may impose sanctions including disqualification, suspension, and exclusion from future PGTSL events.

13. Dress Regulations

All players shall comply with the dress regulations of Victoria Golf & Country Resort and PGTSL.

The following are prohibited during competition rounds:

·   Denim attire

·   Collarless shirts

·   Athletic vests

·   Non-golf footwear

·   Any attire considered inappropriate by the Tournament Committee

Players failing to comply may be required to rectify the breach before commencing play.

14. Electronic Devices & Distance-Measuring Equipment

·       Distance-measuring devices may be used provided they measure distance only.

·       Any device capable of measuring or displaying slope, wind speed, temperature adjustments, club recommendations, or other prohibited information must have such functions disabled during play.

·       Mobile phones shall be kept on silent mode at all times.

15. Entry Procedure

·       There shall be no official entry form for participation in the current tournament.

·       All players must register by submitting their full particulars, including full name with surname, age, contact number, residential address, email address, player status (Professional / Teaching Professional / Amateur), gender / tee category, and current Handicap Index where applicable.

·       The Tournament Committee reserves the absolute right to refuse, accept, or cancel any entry at its sole discretion, without assigning any reason. Late entries may be accepted or declined at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.

·       Entry fee payment instructions shall be issued by the Tournament Committee or designated Tournament Officials.

16. Withdrawals & No-Shows

·       Players withdrawing after acceptance into the field must notify the Tournament Director immediately. Failure to withdraw properly or failure to appear for a scheduled round may result in disciplinary action and future entry restrictions.

17. Suspension of Play & Force Majeure

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to suspend play, postpone play, cancel one or more stipulated rounds, reduce the number of stipulated rounds, or otherwise modify the format of the Championship where necessary to produce a fair result due to dangerous weather, course conditions, natural disasters, government restrictions, or any circumstances beyond reasonable control.

In case of adverse weather conditions, on hearing one long sounding of the siren play must stop and players must find shelter. On hearing two short soundings of the siren play must resume.

 

18. Media, Publicity & Commercial Rights

As a condition of entry, players grant PGTSL the unrestricted right to use their name, image, photograph, voice, likeness, biographical information, tournament performances, and results for promotional, broadcasting, media, commercial, and archival purposes without compensation.

19. Liability & Insurance

Participation is entirely at the player's own risk. Neither PGTSL, Victoria Golf & Country Resort, sponsors, officials, volunteers, nor tournament partners shall be liable for any injury, loss, theft, damage, or claim arising from participation in the Championship. Players are encouraged to maintain their own personal accident and liability insurance.

20. Tournament Committee

·       The PGTSL Tournament Committee shall have full authority in all matters relating to Rules of Golf, Conditions of Competition, eligibility, scheduling, interpretation of regulations, prize distribution, conduct, and discipline.

·       The Tournament Committee reserves the right to amend these Conditions of Entry & Tournament Regulations at any time before or during the Championship where it considers such amendment necessary for the proper administration of the Championship or to ensure fairness to all competitors.

20.1 Tournament Committee Clause

The Tournament Committee shall comprise the following members:

The PGTSL (Professional Golf Tour of Sri Lanka) reserves the right to appoint, remove, or increase the members of the Tournament Committee at any time as it deems fit and necessary for the proper conduct and administration of the Championship.

Any decision made by the Tournament Committee shall be final and binding on all players.

21. Acceptance of Conditions

Submission of an entry shall constitute full acceptance of all Conditions of Entry & Tournament Regulations herein, all other Tournament Conditions & Regulations, and all decisions of the Tournament Committee.
